If you’re looking for the best piano for beginners then you’re probably feeling overwhelmed with the number of pianos and keyboards out there.
I’ve worked in the piano industry for 20 years and I’ve seen all sorts of makes and models become available.
I’m going to keep things simple and recommend what I think are the best choices in 2022.

Firstly, let’s do something fun and pretend that we have an unlimited budget.
In this hypothetical scenario, it’s actually quite easy to answer the question of ‘What’s the best piano for beginners?’.
For me, it’s the Yamaha Clavinova CVP-809.

This is an absolutely wonderful piano. If one were to magically appear in my sitting room, I would be a very happy sausage!
It boasts Yamaha’s ultra-realistic key mechanism (GrandTouch™) and a piano sound that gives the player all the range they’ll ever need.
Both of these things (plus the superb tutorial features) will benefit the beginner from Grade 1 all the way to Grade 8 and beyond.
You can see how enthusiastic I am about it in the video below.

As you might expect – what with it being 2022 – piano technology has advanced spectacularly and the Yamaha CSP range really focuses on aiding the learning process.
The Yamaha CSP range consists of the CSP150 & CSP170 (learn the differences between these models by watching my video here).
Essentially, they use a clever system called StreamLights to give you a simple-to-understand visual aid when learning how to play.
When you’re considering the best piano for beginners, you must take into account the personality of the student involved. If you suit the traditional way of learning then a basic piano (like the Yamaha CLP-735) might suit you better.
If, however, you like your smartphone and tablet technology then definitely check out my video below that explains how they integrate with the Yamaha CSP range.
