Right — hands up if you’ve ever sat in front of your keyboard, swiped and scrolled, feeling like a lost explorer in the jungle of styles, voices, and registrations. Sound familiar? Don’t worry, you’re not alone — and I’ve got just the trick to help.
There’s a little gem hiding in your Yamaha Genos (1 or 2) or PSR-SX700, SX720, SX900, or SX920 keyboard that I reckon more people should be using: the Search function. Yes — that unassuming little magnifying glass at the top of the screen? It’s an absolute lifesaver, especially if you’ve got a keyboard bursting with bonus content like many of ours at ePianos tend to be.
Let’s dive in…
First off, if you’re trying to find a style — say something gentle and romantic like a ballad — you can head into the style section on your keyboard and tap the Search icon (the magnifying glass). Then, press the little black box at the top of the screen — that’s where the magic begins.

Type in what you’re after (like “ballad”), hit OK, and boom — up pop all the matching styles on your keyboard, including any you might’ve had preloaded via one of our ePianos bonus packs. If you get a message saying you’ve exceeded the search limit (there’s a cap on how many results it’ll show), you can just narrow it down a bit more — try “pop ballad” or “rock ballad” instead.
Want a waltz instead? Just pop in “waltz” and away you go. You’ll get a neat list — and believe me, it’s miles faster than hunting around in folders.
Next, let’s talk voices — the instrumental kind, not the ones in your head (though we won’t judge). Head over to the voice section and press that trusty Search icon again. Say you want something quirky like bagpipes. Type it in, hit OK, and voilà — there they are.
You can even get creative and just type a part of the word — like “pipe” — and it’ll bring up Irish pipes, pan pipes, and other piping hot options.
Here’s where it really gets clever. If you’ve got loads of song registrations loaded up — whether they’re from our Music Finder packs, our legendary ePianos bonus content, or ones you’ve added yourself — you can search for songs even if you don’t remember the full title.

Say you’re after Blue Moon — just type in “blue” and you’ll get a lovely list of anything with “blue” in the title. Same goes for “red,” “love,” “dance”… you get the idea.
Even better, many of these registrations come with one-touch settings (OTS) already set up — so once you find your song, you’ve got instant intros, endings, and suitable voices all lined up, ready to go.
Here’s what you need to remember:
Once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it. Honestly, it makes the whole experience feel much more intuitive — especially on these keyboards where there’s just so much packed in.
So next time you’re fumbling around for that perfect waltz or you can’t remember whether it’s Red Roses or Lady in Red, just give the search function a go.
And if you’ve got one of our keyboards with bonus content installed, you’ve got even more reason to start searching — there could be hundreds of hidden gems in there waiting to be found.
