Today I’ve been having a play on the fantastic Yamaha PSR-SX900 arranger keyboard – and even though this one’s secondhand, I’ve got to say, it’s still one of the most exciting instruments in the showroom.
Some people call it the Mini Genos – and that’s not a bad nickname, because this keyboard is based on the Genos 1 and shares many of its best features, just in a smaller, lighter package. You’ve got built-in speakers, five octaves of keys, a bright colour touchscreen, and some truly brilliant voices and styles.
What I love about the SX900 is how simple it is to navigate. Instead of rows of buttons down the side, you just tap the screen to choose your voices or styles. Want to switch from Dance to Latin, or from Strings to Trumpet? Just a tap and you’re there. It’s a big step forward if you’re coming from an older Tyros, PSR-S, or S970/S975 – everything will feel familiar, just slicker and more modern.
And when it comes to sounds – wow. The pianos are lovely and rich, the electric pianos sparkle, the strings are huge and cinematic, and the solo instruments (like the trumpet or guitar) have that little expressive wobble when you play harder. There’s even a boy choir, a church organ, and a fun scat voice that always makes me grin.
Each style has four variations, just like the Tyros and Genos range, with intros, endings, breaks and fills – so you can build up your songs beautifully as you play. And if you want to expand even further, we offer bonus content: over 2,000 song setups, extra registration banks, and additional voices and style packs. These give you instant setups for all sorts of genres – from big band swing to bossa nova and church organ – ready to go at the touch of a button.
We also have a detailed SX & Genos Video Guide, which takes you step by step through the features, with a 40-minute video for each chapter. It’s a great way to get the most out of your keyboard, especially if you prefer to learn visually.
Unlike the larger Genos models, the SX900 has everything built in – including speakers – so you can just plug in and play anywhere. It’s lightweight enough to move around easily, and yet it sounds absolutely massive.
You can even mix up to three voices together in the right hand, or use the free play feature to create lush organ and pad sounds that respond beautifully to your touch.
All in all, it’s a cracking keyboard – perfect if you’re upgrading from an older PSR or Tyros model and want something powerful, modern, and easy to use.

Depending on which option is most appropriate, we will either contact you to discuss a bespoke ePianos delivery surcharge for goods we can’t package for a 3rd party courier, or otherwise dispatch goods via FedEx or APC.
If a courier is used, tracking will be provided by them directly, with a typical arrival time of 1-2 working days.

These items will be sent via courier (typically APC or FedEx). On occasion, depending on which is fastest, we will drop-ship directly from Yamaha to your address via UPS or Parcelforce.

Smaller items, such as books, discs, etc, will be dispatched via Royal Mail second class.
After purchase, you can download the file either from the order confirmation page or the "Downloads" tab in "My Account".
If you have selected the option to receive a pre-loaded USB stick, then this will be dispatched via Royal Mail.
