Just in as a part exchange, we’ve got a bit of a gem here — a used Yamaha AR80, and I have to say, this one’s a particularly lovely example.
Now, if you know your organs, you’ll probably know the AR80 already. It came out in the late 1990s and still has a bit of a cult following. People love it for its sheer usability and those classic Yamaha organ sounds that are right there at your fingertips. We get quite a few enquiries about these, especially from places like Freemasons’ halls, where they’re after traditional organ tones without any fuss. The AR80 delivers exactly that — and then some.
One thing that really stands out about this particular one is the condition of the writing on the panel. If you’re familiar with these models, you’ll know that the gold lettering on the buttons and panels often fades over time. It’s usually down to finger moisture rubbing it off. On many of them, you’re left guessing what the buttons do! But not this one. The writing is pristine — beautifully clean and gold, like it’s barely been touched. Honestly, it makes the whole thing look almost new. That’s incredibly rare.
As for the sound and features, it’s all here. There are loads of presets, most of them rooted in that rich organ tradition — theatre organ, classical, big band — all ready to go with a single button press. The touchscreen is bright and clear, and you get two rows of sounds to choose from right there on the screen.

One of my favourite features is the drawbar system. Instead of the classic physical drawbars, Yamaha designed these clever little sliders that you control with your finger. Slide up or down, or just tap the ends, and you get full control of the tone. It’s intuitive and really satisfying to use.
The Theatre Organ presets are brilliant. You’ve got rich, full sounds like Theatre Regal (we cheekily call it Mr. Dixon), Blackboard Tower, British March — all those big, nostalgic tones that fill the room. And then you’ve got the softer side too — Theatre Soft, Tibia, Strings, Bassins — all just a button away.
And for the more traditional players, there’s a full Classical Organ section too. Choir and Organ, Grand Organ, and so on. Again, all instantly accessible, and beautifully sampled. No messing around.

It also has user pistons along the bottom, so you can save your own custom sounds. You’ve got two upper organ sections, plus a proper drawbar section, so you can really get into blending your own tones. It’s a very capable machine for anyone who wants to go deeper than just presets.
The cover’s lovely too. Glides down nicely and just adds to the whole classy feel of the instrument. All in all, a fabulous example of a Yamaha AR80.
If you’d like to hear it in action, take a look at my demo video. I walk you through the sounds, presets, and show you just how intuitive and satisfying it is to play. It really brings the AR80 to life and gives you a proper sense of what it’s capable of.
