I had the pleasure of sitting down with a used Yamaha Genos recently for one of our Play It Again videos – our series where we showcase the latest arrivals in our second-hand digital piano, keyboard, and organ stock.
I always enjoy playing a Genos. There’s just so much variety packed into it – it’s one of those instruments where you can easily get lost for hours exploring all the voices, rhythms, and features. Whether you’re laying down a quick idea or building a full arrangement, it always seems to have something up its sleeve to inspire you.
What hits me every time is the richness of the sound – especially when paired with the specially tuned Yamaha GNS-MS01 monitor speaker system. With two compact speakers perched neatly on top and a subwoofer on the floor, the sound is projected straight towards you as the player. It really comes alive in a way few keyboards do. It’s warm, detailed, and has a depth that fills the room – and the whole setup hardly takes up any space.
The Genos is ideal for someone looking for a fully professional music workstation to have at home – the kind of person who wants the best, without turning their living room into a recording studio. With the speakers attached, it’s like having a full band ready to go at the touch of a button.
We often see customers trading in their original Genos models – but usually, it’s because they’re upgrading to the Genos 2. That’s something we can help with very easily at ePianos, and it’s one of the reasons we often have such a good selection of pre-owned Genos units ready to go.
One thing that always surprises people is how easy the Genos is to use. The touchscreen interface is incredibly intuitive – I often describe it as being a bit like using a cashpoint machine. Everything’s laid out clearly and accessibly, which means even if you’ve only got a few minutes to sit down and play, you’re not wasting time navigating menus or manuals. You just play – and that’s the whole point, isn’t it?
Although the Genos was Yamaha’s flagship model when it launched, it still holds up brilliantly today. The sound quality, the build, the accompaniment styles, the hardware – all of it remains top tier. And now that it’s available second-hand, it offers outstanding value for money. If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to a Genos 2 or a new Pa5X, this is an absolutely brilliant alternative.

All our used Genos keyboards come with a 12-month warranty as standard.
We also offer help transferring files, settings, and styles from your previous Yamaha keyboard – especially if you’ve saved songs or registrations in MIDI or universal formats.
On top of that, we regularly preload our used Genos keyboards with bonus content – expansion packs, registrations, and custom setups that we’ve built up over the years. There’s a video further down this blog where David runs through exactly what’s included, and how to get the most out of it.
If you go for courier delivery, you could receive your Genos as soon as the next working day. If you’d rather we handle everything – including lifting and setup – our own delivery van team operates on a rotating schedule across the country. We aim to deliver within 28 days (usually much quicker) and we’ll agree a convenient day and time window with you.
You’re also very welcome to visit our Banbury showroom and try one out in person. We’re open six days a week (closed Sundays), and appointments are available if you want to guarantee time on a Genos without interruption.

If you’re on the fence about whether to go for a used Genos – my advice is simple: go for it. Even though it’s now eight years since the original launch, it was Yamaha’s flagship for a reason. The quality hasn’t diminished. The voices, the styles, the operating system – it’s all still exquisite. And with the bonus content and support we offer, it’s a brilliant way to step into the world of top-tier arranger keyboards without breaking the bank.

These items are sold on behalf of Yamaha, and are sent to us on a per-order basis, typically within 5-7 working days, unless an ETA is otherwise stated.
We'll contact you the moment your purchase arrives with us to organise delivery, based on your selected option.

These items must be sent with a heavy-goods courier (typically APC or FedEx). On occasion, depending on which is fastest, we will drop-ship directly from Yamaha to your address via Dachser.
Tracking will be provided by the haulier, with a typical arrival time of 1-2 working days.
*If you have included the optional £180 "Yamaha Premium Service" home delivery & setup option offered on selected products, we will contact you regarding arrangements after purchase.
**The Yamaha CSP Series, Yamaha CVP905 & CVP909, Yamaha CLP875, 885 & 895GP, and Yamaha NU1Xa are all sold on behalf of Yamaha and arrive with us on a per-order basis. As soon as your piano has arrived, we will contact you to organise the appropriate dispatch method. ETA for stock is shown on the product page for those items.
***If you have included the optional £99 home delivery & setup option offered on selected products, we will send your details direct to the installation team, who will contact you within 48 hours to make arrangements.
Depending on which option is most appropriate, we will either contact you to discuss a bespoke ePianos delivery surcharge for goods we can’t package for a 3rd party courier, or otherwise dispatch goods via FedEx or APC.
If a courier is used, tracking will be provided by them directly, with a typical arrival time of 1-2 working days.
Example products: Yamaha PSR-SX920, Yamaha P-225, Yamaha NP-15.
These items will be sent via courier (typically APC or FedEx). On occasion, depending on which is fastest, we will drop-ship directly from Yamaha to your address via UPS or Parcelforce.
Tracking will be provided by the courier, with a typical arrival time of 1-2 working days.
Smaller items, such as books, discs, etc, will be dispatched via Royal Mail second class.
After purchase, you can download the file either from the order confirmation page or the "Downloads" tab in "My Account".
If you have selected the option to receive a pre-loaded USB stick, then this will be dispatched via Royal Mail.
We will contact you regarding any pre-ordered items, and let you know when they arrive so as to arrange delivery with you at a convenient time.

This is a special order "agency" item, and comes to us directly from Yamaha on a per-order basis.
It typically takes 7-10 days for this item to arrive with us, whereupon we'll contact you to discuss the arrangement of delivery.
For any pre-orders, we will contact you as soon as the item arrives with us to schedule a delivery with you, and update you with an ETA.
Occasionally, there may be availability issues with our suppliers, in which case we'll get in touch with you to see if you're happy to wait, or if you'd like to cancel the order and receive a full refund.
