If you’re new to the Yamaha CSP series, then let me just say: this one’s a bit special.
We’ve just had a lovely used example of the Yamaha CSP-275 digital piano come in (stock ID #9841) — and it’s the perfect way to kick off our Play it Again series, where we showcase the most exciting secondhand arrivals to hit our warehouse.

Because once you connect it to your iPad or iPhone using the free Yamaha Smart Pianist app, the whole thing opens up like a musical Swiss Army knife. On its own, it’s a full-length, fully-weighted digital piano with a beautiful acoustic tone and a really enjoyable feel. But pair it with your smart device and suddenly you’re scrolling through different concert grands, upright pianos, even full backing bands!
Swipe through the app and you’ll see a picture of a concert grand. Tap a different model, and not only does the image change — the sound character does too. It’s not subtle either. One’s bright and powerful, another is soft and woody, and then there’s a lovely mellow upright.
And then, the fun really begins. Hit the Style section in the app, and you’ve got access to hundreds of built-in bands in different genres. I picked a ’90s guitar pop’ style — my sort of thing — and all I had to do was start playing. The piano detected what I was doing and the band joined in. It’s like being in a jam session with your own virtual musicians.
But maybe you’re into jazz? No problem. I switched over to a smooth jazz combo, complete with upright bass and cymbals, and again, the piano followed along.

Now, one of the most impressive parts for me is what this piano can do for learners. Through the app, you can load up well-known songs like Fields of Gold, see the sheet music, and have the piano play along. But get this: thanks to something called Stream Lights, little red and blue LEDs above the keys light up to show you exactly what to play — like a musical version of Guitar Hero.
There’s even a Guide mode where the piano will wait until you hit the right note before continuing. That’s game-changing stuff for anyone learning to play, or for kids who are just getting started. Because the stream lights show what’s coming next, you start to build that all-important muscle memory.
There are hundreds of songs to explore, and Yamaha are always adding more.
What I love about the CSP-275 is that it’s incredibly versatile. It’s a serious instrument, no doubt — great for experienced players — but it’s also deeply intuitive and friendly for beginners. And when you pair it with the Smart Pianist app, it becomes a full-blown teaching tool, recording studio, and backing band all in one.
This particular secondhand model (ID #9841) is in excellent condition. It’s not every day we get one of these Yamaha Smart Pianos in used, so it’s a great opportunity if you’ve been thinking about something with a bit of everything.

We’re very selective with the secondhand instruments we take in — they already tend to be in good condition. Our superb team of engineers refurbish and repair them to a high standard. That’s why we include a 1-year warranty as standard. We offer UK mainland delivery, and can collect your part exchange at the same time. If anything needs attention later, our engineers can be sent out quickly across the UK.
