The short answer? Yes.
If Genos is your passion, then upgrading to Genos 2 is one of the most satisfying decisions you can make.
When the Genos 2 arrived here at ePianos, I felt a genuine thrill opening it up. I always knew Yamaha would progress the Genos line — they never stand still. What makes them stand out isn’t just their technical brilliance, it’s their ability to listen. With every new edition, they take player feedback seriously, and you can feel it.
Genos 2 looked somehow tighter, neater, more refined. Same dimensions, yes, but it just felt… more evolved. Like an F1 car that looks the same from a distance but gains a second a lap with a new engine. I could sense, even before playing a note, that this wasn’t just a tweak or a polish. This was a step forward.
And when you do play it? That’s when it hits you.
For Genos 1 owners, the experience will be exciting but comfortable. The layout and operating system will feel familiar — like sitting in your own car. But the second you press a key, that familiar song you’ve played a hundred times suddenly sounds better. Richer. Clearer. More detailed.
It’s like taking your trusted car in for an upgrade, and they fit a completely new engine under the bonnet. Same controls, same dashboard, but now when you press the accelerator, you feel it. The power. The acceleration. The roar.
Yamaha has fine-tuned everything — from the sounds and styles to the hardware itself. They’ve even tackled practical feedback head-on: one of the most talked-about upgrades is the newly angled screen. It might seem like a small thing, but for years players have said the flat screen on Genos 1 wasn’t ideal. Yamaha listened, and the result is a noticeably more comfortable playing position.

Add to that the powerful new vocal harmony features, the expanded ambient styles, and the general sense that every sound has been sculpted with more finesse… and it becomes clear this isn’t just an update.
It’s a love letter to Genos owners.
Let’s be honest — if music is your hobby, your escape, your joy — why wouldn’t you reward yourself with the best possible version of it?
There was a good five years between Genos 1 and Genos 2. This wasn’t rushed. It was built on feedback, improved with intent, and delivered with purpose.
As always, we’ve made lots of Genos 2 videos so you can see and hear the difference for yourself. But really, the best way to know if it’s worth upgrading?
Come and try one.
We think you’ll feel the same as we did: that unmistakable sense that something already great has just been made greater.
