Somehow, we’ve made it to 18 episodes of the Average Keyboard Guy video series… and we’re just getting started.
When I first began this series, the idea was simple.
I wanted a place to share my enjoyment of keyboards, digital pianos, and all the fantastic modern technology that comes with them. This wasn’t meant to be a technical deep dive, or a slick expert tutorial channel—just a relaxed space where I could show how much fun these instruments are and, hopefully, spark a bit of curiosity and creativity in others along the way.
I never set out with a grand plan for it, really.
The name Average Keyboard Guy was just a working title—something to slap on while I figured things out. But it stuck. And I think it reflects what the channel is really about: not being an expert or showing off, but being a regular person who just loves keyboards and wants to talk about them.
That down-to-earth, honest approach is what I’ve always aimed for.
One of the best parts of doing this series has been the response from viewers. A lot of the video ideas now come directly from your comments and emails.
From the beginning, I’ve made it a point to say: I want to hear from you—what you’re struggling with, what you’re enjoying, what you’re curious about. That kind of interaction has been one of the most rewarding and motivating things about running the channel.
One of the biggest surprises came from a video where I casually mentioned some “Piano Therapy” settings I’d created on the Yamaha PSR-SX900.
It wasn’t even planned—I’d just made them for myself as a bit of fun. But the response was overwhelming. Hundreds of people got in touch asking for the settings, and it showed me just how valuable these little explorations can be for others too.
It’s moments like that which really highlight why I love doing this.
When I sit down to make these videos, I imagine I’m talking to people a bit like me—enthusiasts, hobbyists, tinkerers.
People who’ve found a place in their lives for keyboards and digital pianos, whether it’s for a bit of fun, a way to relax, or a chance to make music on their own terms.
And although I know viewers come from all over the world and from all walks of life, I like to think that if we all ended up in a pub together—with a keyboard in the corner—we’d have hours of chat ahead of us.
Well, first up, I’ve got a long list of great viewer questions to tackle in upcoming episodes—so thank you if you’ve sent one in!
Beyond that, I’m keen to explore more ways these instruments can help us enjoy the music we love. Whether it’s film scores, pop hits, musicals, or your own compositions, I want to show how today’s keyboards can really bring that music to life.
I’ll also be continuing to share some of the custom settings and sounds I’ve been making, since the response to those has been so enthusiastic.
And hopefully, before too long, you’ll start to see some guests appear on the series too—people I know from the industry, demo artists, or just fellow keyboard fans who’ve got something worth sharing.

As always, if you’ve got a video idea, a question, or just want to say hello, drop me a line at the email address below.
I’d love to hear from you.
Thank you so much to everyone who’s supported the series so far. Whether you’ve left a comment, sent in a question, or just watched along—Average Keyboard Guy wouldn’t be what it is without you.
Here’s to the next 18 episodes… and beyond 🎹

Hello Chris,
The explanations on yamaha PSR and Genos manuals as to download expansion packs or bonus audio style packs are so complicated that we drop this procedure.
Is it possible for ” the average guy ” to make an episode on that subject. That will help many of us if an easy way is made possible.
Many thanks.
Thank you for your comment! We completely understand – the instructions can certainly make the process seem more complicated than it needs to be. We’d be very happy to make a video showing a simple, step-by-step method for downloading and installing expansion packs and bonus audio style packs for the PSR and Genos.
It’s a brilliant idea, and we know it would help a lot of players. Thank you for the suggestion! In the meantime, you can find more of our videos and helpful guides on our ePianos TV page here: https://www.epianos.co.uk/newsroom/
I’d like to see more midi usage the genos does lots of things that are never demonstrated
Thank you for your comment! You’re absolutely right – the Genos is capable of so much, especially when it comes to MIDI usage, and it’s something that isn’t often fully demonstrated. We’d be more than happy to create a more detailed video on this subject if you’d like – just let us know!
In the meantime, you can find more of our videos, demonstrations, and helpful content over on our ePianos TV site here: https://www.epianos.co.uk/tv/
