Our Yamaha PSR-EW425 review is here! What an utterly brilliant keyboard this is for such a reasonable price. It has a huge selection of sounds (824) and backing styles (290) to suit almost anyone’s taste in music. Rock, Pop, Country, Swing & Jazz, Dance, to name just a few. With a touch-sensitive keyboard and an advanced sound engine, the Yamaha PSR-EW425 is a highly capable and exciting portable music-making machine.
The Yamaha PSR-EW425 has 76 keys which will be welcome news for players who like a little more space than the traditional 61 notes found on portable keyboards. The 64 note polyphony will also be beneficial to pianists and players that like to layer their sounds with effects. For the full specification on this keyboard check out our Yamaha PSR-EW425 product page by clicking here.
It’s clear that some of the higher-end PSR keyboard models from Yamaha, like the PSR-SX700 and PSR-SX900, have inspired the design of the new Yamaha PSR-EW425. Live control knobs that are assignable, Super Articulation Lite voices for all sorts of authentic instrument sounds, and a useful Direct Access system allowing you to dig into the parameters of the keyboard without having to navigate endless sub-menus.
If making pro-sounding electronic music is your thing, then you’ll love the Groove Creator that allows you to sample external sounds via the microphone, AUX input, or USB and play them through the keyboard’s speakers along with your performance. It’s an extremely useful feature and fits very well with how people like to make music today.

David explains what to look out for when buying a new piano or keyboard.
For singers, the Yamaha PSR-EW425 has a microphone input allowing you to perform live along with your playing – or indeed a recording of your playing – and the keyboard includes professional-quality vocal effects to really polish up those vocals.
There are all the standard things you’d expect to see on a modern portable keyboard. Headphones sockets, quick recall memory buttons (called registrations), all sorts of outputs for connecting to external speaker systems or computers. There’s even the option to connect the Yamaha PSR-EW425 to their own subwoofer speaker called the Yamaha KS-SW100. That really boosts the sound when playing in crowded venues.
In summary, the Yamaha PSR-EW425 contains a lot of Yamaha’s newest keyboard technology in a price bracket that stands up very well with its competition. It’s the perfect keyboard for creative people whether you have strong piano playing skills or not, as much of the built-in software is there to help you make music and let your creativity flow.
We’ve loved seeing the progress of the E-series keyboards from Yamaha and the PSR-EW425 builds on what’s come before it, taking lessons learned from the astonishingly popular PSR-SX700 and PSR-SX900 models. With the PSR-EW425, Yamaha continue to be leaders in making highly capable, highly fun, compact keyboards.
