Ideally, you’ll want to purchase a new piano, keyboard, or organ from a well-established, trusted, and respected company. Here are a few general tips to begin with.
Start off by simply looking for the ‘About us’ page which should be visible on the website’s homepage (here’s our ‘About us’ page).
At the very least, this page should allow you to put some human faces to the company name – it’s nice to know you’re not buying from a robot after all! – at best, it’ll give you a detailed history of the business and help reassure you that you’re dealing with a legitimate business.
This might sound like a strange thing to say, but don’t assume that the business you’ve found is actually based somewhere in the UK.
The simplest way to do this is to check for the company’s address, which is usually located in the ‘contact us’ section (you can see our full address in Banbury, Oxfordshire by clicking here).
Beware that some online companies based in mainland Europe have acquired small UK offices to give the appearance of being in the UK even though their instruments are shipped from a European warehouse.
This can come as quite an unpleasant surprise if you need to return an item and are liable for the postal charges. Not to mention the potential language barrier!
This is a pretty important one. It should be very easy to find a telephone number for the company you’re buying from and to speak to the staff.
If a phone number is not clearly displayed, or if you get connected to an automated service, this may call into question the legitimacy of the business and make any post-sale support hard to get.

Some shops’ knowledge is very thinly spread across various departments e.g. guitars, amplifiers, drums, brass & woodwind etc, and their ability to provide expert post-sale support may be severely compromised.

These items will be sent via courier (typically APC or FedEx). On occasion, depending on which is fastest, we will drop-ship directly from Yamaha to your address via UPS or Parcelforce.

Smaller items, such as books, discs, etc, will be dispatched via Royal Mail second class.
After purchase, you can download the file either from the order confirmation page or the "Downloads" tab in "My Account".
If you have selected the option to receive a pre-loaded USB stick, then this will be dispatched via Royal Mail.
We will contact you regarding any pre-ordered items, and let you know when they arrive so as to arrange delivery with you at a convenient time.

For orders of any stock displaying a 7-10 day lead time, we will contact you as soon as the item arrives with us to schedule a delivery with you.
Occasionally, there may be availability issues with our suppliers, in which case we'll get in touch with you to see if you're happy to wait, or if you'd like to cancel the order and receive a full refund.
This is a special order "agency" item, and comes to us directly from Yamaha on a per-order basis.
It typically takes 7-10 days for this item to arrive with us, whereupon we'll contact you to discuss the arrangement of delivery.
For any pre-orders, we will contact you as soon as the item arrives with us to schedule a delivery with you, and update you with an ETA.
Occasionally, there may be availability issues with our suppliers, in which case we'll get in touch with you to see if you're happy to wait, or if you'd like to cancel the order and receive a full refund.
