The SK1 series brings keyboard players the very best ToneWheel Drawbar organ sounds plus a full range of classic keyboard, e.piano, synth and orchestral voices.

The SK1 is equipped with the classic sound of the B3 organ, complete with a realistic Leslie speaker simulator. Piano & orchestral voices can be layered with the organ tones, plus you can customize your SK1 to your needs by downloading optional voices from the Hammond.eu website.

Designed to satisfy the gigging musician, this pocket-sized peach of an organ is both our lightest and smallest genuine Hammond instrument yet. Ideally suited to life on the road, it’s impressively easy to pack up, put away, and transport, yet lacks none of that iconic Hammond sound and soul. Its smaller size also ensures that you can fit onto the tiniest of stages, with a minimum of fuss. Whereas previous Hammond models were renowned for their size and weight, the range of SK1 keyboards has revolutionised our product line, ensuring that we’re at the cutting edge of modern instrument production.

The SK1 range is the only keyboards of their type and boasts a perfect balance between feature-packed, professional instruments and transportable, versatile Hammond organs.

Innovative new technology has been used to ensure that the smaller size doesn’t compromise the pure functionality and perfection of sound that constitutes the Hammond heritage. An enormous collection of Hi-Def Extravoices is integrated into the design – a total of 37 voices, with 114 variations, including Grand Piano, Electric Piano, Harpsichord, Clavs, and Trumpet, amongst others. This in-built versatility ensures that you’ve got all the tools you need to perform in a variety of styles and numerous different genres. This, combined with the 32 ranks of pipe organ and authentic Hammond organ voicing, make for a powerful instrument that really packs a punch. ​

The secret of The SK Series’ VASE III “Engine”

Whereas older Hammond models utilised a design composed of 96 spinning discs, each with a notch in a different location to register distinct pitches, the new SK1 range has undergone a digital transformation. However, this doesn’t mean that the traditional Hammond sound has been altered in any way. Instead, the SK1 digitally reproduces the authentic Hammond sound by taking the original design and reproducing it in the digital realm. There are no moving parts, but precise modelling and digital technologies have allowed us to recreate the original Hammond tone, complete with all its inconsistencies, imperfections, and beautiful idiosyncrasies.

Customise to Your Heart’s Content

One of the principal advantages of digital music technology is the ability to customise and tailor various settings until you achieve the perfect sound. The SK1 range’s Digital Tonewheel – the ‘engine’ that drives the instrument – boasts sophisticated controls for every conceivable aspect of the organ’s sound. Adjusting the Volume, Timbre, Motor Noise and Leakage allows the user to create your own Hammond sound, replicate the sound of a vintage Hammond, or reproduce one of the iconic models used by some of the most famous Hammond musicians on the planet. Additional memory enables you to add voices from various free online sources and settings for the mysterious ‘Tone’ control have also been included, demonstrating our attention to detail and desire for historical authenticity.

The Hammond and The Leslie™

Since the Hammond was first developed, its story has been bound up in that of The Leslie™ speaker. Designed to provide a ‘warmer’ sound for the Hammond, The Leslie™ speaker proved immensely popular amongst those that used the instrument to play popular music styles. With the SK1, we’ve created our finest digital Leslie™ reproduction to date. The effect can be switched on quickly, and every aspect of the sound can be controlled, including the rotor speed, speaker size, amp type, and mic placement. There’s even space for eight presets, each of which replicates the sound of vintage Leslie™ models, like the 122, 147, and Vintage 31-H. Our range of SK1 organs allows you to recreate the classic combination of Hammond and Leslie™ with an incredibly diverse array of settings and presets.
