After many years of intensive research and development, the Yamaha N1X AvantGrand Hybrid Digital Piano is born. Combining both a traditional body, with advanced digital features. Raising standards in the industry. The N1X offers the best of both worlds, without compromising quality. Showcasing the incredible sounds of the world famous Bosendorfer Imperial and Yamaha’s own CFX concert grand pianos. The N1X is carefully made to serve you an incredible grand piano playing experience in an upright piano size.
A Grand Playing Experience
The Yamaha’s flagship 9′ CFX concert grand piano, has been faithfully sampled. The world-renowned CFX, played at the prestigious International Chopin Competition in 2010, has since been recognised one of the greatest concert grands of all time. And all thanks to the N1X, you can reproduce this incredible sound in the comfort of your own home, or studio. The sparkling highs and the most powerful resonant bass notes. Combine the two and you can produce a sound that projects to the furthest reaches of any concert hall.
An Elegant, Modern Design
Attention to detail. After decades of crafting a legacy of outstanding acoustics, Yamaha’s expertise in frame making really shines through with robust quality. Overlooking no details, the N1X embellishes any room with the unique, refined curves of an acoustic grand piano. Using exclusive finishing technologies and outstanding woodworking techniques, Yamaha boasts in its all supreme polished cabinets. The high-gloss mirror finish provides a scratch-resistant coating with long-lasting gloss, that maintains the piano’s smooth surface over time.
Connectivity and Functionality
Behind its simple control panel, the N1X hosts an abundance of connectivity options for maximum functionality and integration with external devices. It can be connected directly to computers and mobile devices via USB, sound and recording systems via audio cables, act as a Bluetooth receiver, and integrate with iOS apps via WiFi. Explore a world of creative possibilities with the N1X.
Virtual Resonance Modelling (VRM)
All thanks to Yamaha’s Virtual Resonance Modelling (VRM) technology, the N1X is equipped to produce the richest, most complex sounds. As the strings and sounds resonate throughout the entire body of the instrument. The N1X can now produce rich reverberations that envelop the listener.
An Immersive Headphone Experience
The Yamaha NX1 features advanced CFX Binaural Sampling technology, which means the sound you’ll hear through your headphones when practicing silently is remarkably realistic. Piano samples carefully recorded by specialised microphones capture localised sound information and nuances to produce a sound so natural, you’ll forget you’re wearing headphones at all.
Spatial Acoustic Sampling
Yamaha have taken a revolutionary approach to sampling, recording and playback of the notes of an actual acoustic piano. Treating the soundboard not simply as a point source of sound but as a plane, Yamaha took samples at four positions, adding optimum centre and rear locations to the traditional left and right. As a sound source, they carefully selected the best single instrument from our CFIIIS full concert grand pianos for sampling.
This innovative method enables all AvantGrand instruments to recreate the original sound of a superb grand piano almost to perfection. In addition, the speaker system has been designed to ensure that this sound is heard at its very best. A three-way system featuring woofer, mid-range and tweeter speakers reproduce the rich natural resonance of the soundboard accurately.
Furthermore, each of the low, mid, and high-frequency ranges have been given their own amplifier to prevent interference between ranges. This innovative configuration allows the instrument’s outstanding sound system to reproduce the nuances of each individual note. For even greater sonic accuracy, speaker layouts have been optimised to the shape of the instrument.
