New and improved the Yamaha NP-12 Digital Piano Keyboard builds on the superb line of Piaggero keyboards and adds a staggeringly good grand piano sound and huge 64-note polyphony. For new players or those that just need a portable, realistic sounding piano, the Yamaha NP-12 is ideal.
ADVANCED WAVE MEMORY SAMPLING
The Yamaha NP-12 allows you to choose from a selection of 10 superb voices created using AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) sampling, a digital technology that helps to recreate the nuances of acoustic instruments, improving your playing experience and your audiences listening experience. Thanks to its dual/layer function, you can combine different voices, for example, piano and strings, to create your desired sound. The new grand piano has been painstakingly sampled so that you get superior expression and tone.
GRADED SOFT-TOUCH KEYBOARD
Yamaha have used their years of experience with pianos to make the NP-12 a comfortable instrument play, thanks in part to the full-size 61-key keyboard. The box type keys have a classic look and, although they aren’t fully weighted, they offer a graded-touch experience, much more similar to pianos than standard keyboards without making the instrument heavy.
4 reverb settings allow you to create the precise acoustic quality you require at the touch of a button. Using reverb alongside the high-quality voices will help to enhance your performance further, especially when sitting in a mix with other instruments. Alongside the preset voices and reverb settings is a preloaded library of 10 songs – great if you want to sit back and listen.
The NP-12 features a USB to host connection, this means you can record your performance into your favourite computer music software as MIDI data, then use the sounds within your software to play back your performance. You could also use external MIDI gear, such as controller keyboards, to play back the sounds within the NP-12. Please note that additional equipment such as MIDI interfaces may be required for this kind of operation.
Not only is the USB port another way to connect directly to computers but also allows you to connect to an iOS device for use with a range of apps from Yamaha that add even more creative fun.
The Yamaha NP-12 delivers its sound via its 2 x 2.5W amplifiers and 2 x (12cm x 6cm) speakers. Powered by either a 12V DC adapter or batteries, the NP-12 has an impressive battery life of 6 hours+ for when mains power is impractical. The NP-12 comes with a music rest and features Yamaha’s innovative power-off mode, switching itself off after an idle time of 30 minutes to save power and conserve battery life.
