We’ve had a right treat come through the doors this week — a Ketron SD7! And I’ll tell you what, I hadn’t really explored one of these before… but it didn’t take long for me to get completely hooked. It’s just full of character and a joy to play.
Now, in this video I give you a proper tour of what this keyboard can do — and let me tell you, it’s absolutely packed with features. Whether you’re into big band, Dixieland, dance, or something more mellow, the SD7 throws everything at you with style. And it’s not just the backing rhythms that are impressive — they’re adventurous, lively, and full of life. It really does feel like you’ve got a band behind you.
One of the things that struck me straight away is how intuitive the layout is. The 7” colour touchscreen is really responsive and easy to use. It’s actually the opposite layout to Yamaha — the categories are on the right, the options on the left — but once you get used to it, it’s a breeze.
There are loads of real audio drum styles built-in, and that makes a big difference to the sound — the grooves just feel real. You’ve got over 500 brilliant voices to choose from too. Everything from grand pianos to woodwinds, brass, synths — you name it.
I had a play around with the swing and big band styles (my old favourites), but also dove into the more modern dance and funk sections, just to see how far it could go. It handled everything I threw at it — and I do mean everything. They’ve even spent time perfecting the endings, which tells you something about how much care has gone into this.
In the video, I give you a little tour of the voice sections too. You’ll hear me test out the saxes, flutes, trumpets — and of course the grand piano. The piano tones in particular really surprised me. Lovely clarity, a proper soft feel when you play gently, and a warm, woody tone when needed. It’s expressive stuff.
The SD7 also comes with real-time sliders that make it easy to blend your voices and backing on the fly — perfect for live performers.
This is a secondhand Ketron SD7, stock ID 9924, and it’s in great condition. We’ve scored the keyboard itself 90/100, and it’s clear it’s been well looked after. The screen, keys, buttons, and case all get high marks, and it plays beautifully.

Smaller items, such as books, discs, etc, will be dispatched via Royal Mail second class.
After purchase, you can download the file either from the order confirmation page or the "Downloads" tab in "My Account".
If you have selected the option to receive a pre-loaded USB stick, then this will be dispatched via Royal Mail.
We will contact you regarding any pre-ordered items, and let you know when they arrive so as to arrange delivery with you at a convenient time.
